Get Meet Your Maker Day 1 as a PlayStation Plus Monthly Game, out April 4

Game Ace Pro 0 0

Meet Your Maker launches on April 4, and what better way to do it than with Day 1 availability as part of the April 2023 PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup.

While there’s no better feeling than finally getting a game into the hands of players, Meet Your Maker’s focus on user-generated content makes this release extra special for us.

Get Meet Your Maker Day 1 as a PlayStation Plus Monthly Game, out April 4

This is a twisted playground where anyone can unleash their creativity, building and challenging each other with levels we could never have conceived. After the incredible showcase of imagination and skill we’ve seen from our playtesters, we’re beyond excited to see what the rest of the world can do.

If you’re looking for a few ideas to drive your personal approach to building or raiding on April 4, here are some player-inspired profiles to help light the fuse.

What kind of Builder are you?

Thinking about the experience you want to create for Raiders isn’t just a fun way to build in Meet Your Maker, it’s a key part of the game. Flex that dark creativity to create something memorable, and rack up accolades from Raiders that will feed your Outpost’s progression down the road.

The Maze Maker

Every Outpost in Meet Your Maker requires you build a clear path from its entrance to the Genmat at its core – but nothing says this path should be easy to navigate. Build like a Maze Maker and turn the layout of the Outpost itself into yet another enemy for players to contend with. Twisting hallways, verticality, multiple branching corridors, and trap-filled dead ends are all great ways to confound Raiders.

Along with well-placed traps, guards also play a big role in the Maze Maker’s arsenal. Personally record each of their patrol routes throughout your labyrinth for maximum effect. Then up the ante by equipping guards with Augments like Unleashed and let them break free of their patrol path to chase down Raiders until death.

The Trapper

Some of the most rewarding moments in Meet Your Maker happen when a Raider thinks they’ve eluded your clever trap setup only to realize they were being herded towards the real threat the entire time. The Trapper loves chaining traps together, thinking strategically to always stay one step ahead.

You can equip every trap with Mods to give you ultimate control over how (and when) they’re deployed. Traps can be modded to do everything fr

PS5 Creators: How Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores will harness the power of PS5

Game Ace Pro 0 0

Next month, Aloy will face new threats in a danger-filled land as she embarks on a new adventure. Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shore expansion leverages the power of PS5 to make this journey possible. We reached out to Guerrilla to understand how, and to find out more about the enticing combat and world design details we should expect on April 19. Game Director Mathijs de Jonge offers his development insights.

PlayStation Blog: What were your first impressions when first learning about the power and capabilities of the PS5, from a developer perspective?

Mathijs de Jonge: Horizon Forbidden West is a very visual game, so the promise of more CPU power and memory meant we were going to be able to add even more quality to the image; and gameplay-wise I was most looking forward to being able to play at 60fps. This was high on my wishlist as it works so well with our combat gameplay as you’re fighting the machines.

When I first heard about the superfast SSD, it was hard to believe that it was so capable – but it seems like loading times truly are a thing of the past. This works brilliantly for a game like Horizon Forbidden West, where long loading screens can be a real immersion breaker. From a development point of view, fast loading also helped me with reviewing the game because I could jump straight into any section without having to wait.

How have you taken advantage of PS5’s power to create Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores?

One of our key priorities with Horizon games is to add a ton of detail and richness to our environments. On Horizon Forbidden West, everything we added or increased was something we’d need to have a plan around how to optimize for PS4 as well. On Burning Shores, since we can just focus on PS5, we’ve been able to charge forward and we’re really excited about what we’ve been able to pull off in creating this stunning post-post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles.

The cityscape ruins of LA and its surroundings are highly detailed and require a lot of processing power as well as fast streaming technology to run properly; especially when the player is flying over the lands and can see a lot at once. One of the settlements is situated in and around those detailed ruins, and we were able to squeeze a lot of activity in there.

Another notable one is a particular battle scene that requires a LOT of memory and processing power! To achieve this grand vision both technically and creatively, we definitely were thankful for the many advantages that the PS5 hardware brings.

Become Mega in Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season 2

Game Ace Pro 0 0

How Mega will you be in Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season 2? Will you spend your time in Mega City by riding the new grind rails or swerving the streets on a sports bike? There’s a lot to see in the Mega City, but don’t forget to venture out and explore the rest of the new biome: see the cherry blossoms of Steamy Springs, fish in the waters of Knotty Nets, sharpen your skills at Kenjutsu Crossing, and more.

A whole new part of the Island is waiting to be discovered by your squad!

Are you Mega fast?

A new city means new streets for you to ride on. You (and your squadmate) can grab the sleek, aerodynamic Victory Crown Rogue (a.k.a. Rogue Bike) and speed through the streets of Mega City and more. This two-person sports bike features high acceleration, sharp turning, and a boost-ready engine. Prefer a four-wheel approach? Get in the Nitro Drifter and use its handbrake to drift ‘round the tight turns of the city!

How about Mega sharp?

Seek to study the blade? Then hunt down a Kinetic Blade and perform the artful Knockback Slash. No time for mercy? Pull off the devastating Dash Attack.

Will you be Mega masterful?

There are more ways for you to get around Mega City besides the streets. If you see a grind rail, try jumping on it to skate around the buildings and your enemies. You can even use your weapons as you ride!

Or Mega frenetic?

Remember, you don’t need to be loud to cause havoc. Equip the silenced, highly accurate, and fully automatic Havoc Suppressed Assault Rifle. Prefer something less subtle? We’ve got you covered — grab the heavy-hitting Havoc Pump Shotgun and fight bold and brash.

What about Mega assisted?

New Reality Augments make their debut in Chapter 4 Season 2! Activate Dumpster Diving to find loot by hiding, Slap Surplus for some extra kick, Dignified Finish to refresh a Dash Attack, and more.

Be Mega fashionable

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 Season 02 Reloaded arrives March 15

Game Ace Pro 0 0

Season 02 Reloaded launches on March 15 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. The midseason update continues the epic action from the start of the season with the introduction of Special Ops Raid Episode 02, the Himmelmatt Expo 6v6 Multiplayer map, new Camo Challenges, a new free functional weapon, and more across both games.

Raid Episode 02, Himmelmatt Expo, more Party modes

Test your skills in a new cooperative Raid, explore an idyllic winter retreat at Himmelmat, and let loose with new Multiplayer party modes.

Atomgrad Raid Episode 02: Team up with two other players and take on the roles of Captain Price, Farah, and Gaz as they embark on a new mission to identify and acquire a deadly warhead. The Operators must navigate through deadly traps and increasing enemy resistance as they ascend through the missile silo.

As part of the midseason update, anyone who owns Modern Warfare® II will be able to access Raids; Raid Assignments are no longer required for access. Players who successfully complete Episode 02 can take on the Veteran version of the Raid, offering additional rewards for tackling the mission against greater odds.

Himmelmatt Expo (6v6): Deploy to the Himmelmatt Expo, a new Core Multiplayer map set on a European mountainside. Battle in the main event center and skirmish through the snow-covered streets surrounding the luxurious amenities of this winter retreat. Look for Himmelmatt Expo in the Quick Play rotation and featured Playlists throughout Season 02 Reloaded.

Get your winter jacket and prepare to deploy to this idyllic company retreat nestled in the Swiss Alps. However, attendees for the upcoming Oil & Gas Summit 2023 will have to delay their arrival as combat breaks out on the site between SpecGru and KorTac forces.

Himmelmatt Expo consists of four major areas:

Event Center: The Event Center occupies nearly half of the map, a huge building housing reception services, a Conference Room, the Lounge, and a Terrace. The structure is composed of two levels: the main floor that runs from the reception desks on either side of the building and through the Terrace, and the lower floor leading to the Conference Room.

Main Roads: Roads lead to the event center’s top and bottom entrances, with parked vehicles scattered throughout.  From the southern Roundabout, one can see over the Sauna and up toward the Restaurant, while Operators in the north Street enjoy a similar view over the Sauna and against enemies emerging from the Pool. Use the various trucks and vehicles here for cover as needed and be sure to race inside if you get notified of an incoming enemy streak.

Restaurant: While tiny compared to the event center, The Restaurant nonetheless occupies an important position on the map, with several game modes positioning their objective at or near the building.

Inside the development of the latest PS5 system software update

Game Ace Pro 0 0

The PS5 console’s latest system software update rolled out globally yesterday to all PS5 players, and many of you have already checked out new features like Discord voice chat and 1440p VRR support.

For a peek behind the curtain, we sat down with Hiromi Wakai, VP of Product Management based out of Tokyo, to discuss how the new features came together and what’s next beyond this latest update.

Sid Shuman: Good to speak with you again, Hiromi! Can you tell us about your role at PlayStation?

Hiromi Wakai: My team covers the product management role for the hardware products, system software updates, and network services for PlayStation, working closely with teams in the U.S. and Europe. I’m fortunate to help guide our product strategy on a global basis.

I joined Sony Group in 2001 and came to SIE in 2005, so I’ve been working on PlayStation products for almost 18 years. It’s been a wonderful journey of listening to our fans and game development partners as we work to deliver new features and products that unlock the possibilities of play.

Sid: Discord voice chat is a big addition.

Hiromi: Discord voice chat has been one of the biggest requests from our community and we’ve worked hard with the Discord team to deliver an experience that we hope our players will enjoy. I use Discord when I’m playing a Final Fantasy XIV raid with my friends who are gaming on PC, so Discord voice chat is a feature that’s important to me and one we’re very happy to bring to our community. Together with Discord, we want to make it easier for people to connect with each other, wherever they enjoy gaming.

Sid: What are some of your favorite features in this new update?

Hiromi: I’m very happy that we are delivering Variable Refresh Rate support for 1440p because it’s been a highly requested feature from players who enjoy gaming on 1440p-supported monitors. VRR is a great way to enhance the visual performance of PS5 games so it’s exciting that more of our gamers will be able to enjoy this feature.

The ability to update your DualSense controller wirelessly is another feature that I feel adds convenience for players and makes the experience of updating your controller’s device software that much easier.

Sid: How do you determine which features make it into a system update?

Hiromi: Our inspiration comes from our players so we are constantly listening to their feedback. We are always thinking about the features that our fans might want to see and ways to make their gaming experiences on PS5 more fun, social, and connected. It’s also important for us to minimize friction in players’ ability to easily jump into the experiences they want to enjoy on PS5. We keep a very long list of features and think carefully about how we prioritize our time and resources to deliver the ones that will make the most meaningful impact on our players’ experience.

Our focus is not just enhancing the core PS5 experience but also delivering great integrated platform experiences for new products, like the deep control customization options for the DualSense Edge wireless controller and PlayStation VR2. We are excited to introduce even more new features to players in the future!
